Meet our Founder: Jo A. S. Thoburn

Jo A. S. Thoburn founded Creating Scholars, a platform that helps future-focused parents prepare their children for a swiftly changing world. Through her upcoming books, videos, The Scholars Report newsletter, and The Scholars Plan, Jo delivers practical guidance toward navigating technological change while keeping the essential foundations of learning intact.

Jo brings more than 25 years of real-world leadership to this work. As President and CEO of the Fairfax Christian School, she has guided thousands of students toward success in college, career, and life. Under her leadership, the school became the first K–12 school in the nation to receive the President's "E" Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce, which recognized its work educating students from around the world.

Named a "Top 100 Visionary in Education,” Jo has experience that extends well beyond the classroom. She has built two successful businesses in Northern Virginia and served on numerous local and international nonprofit boards.

A writer and international speaker, Jo has addressed audiences across North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia on education, culture, and free enterprise. Through Creating Scholars, she helps families advocate for quality academics, plan strategic career paths, and understand where education is headed worldwide.
